Bottom Line 2001: The Future of Fiduciary Responsibility
A Comprehensive Forum for Fiduciaries and Advisors
April 18-20, 2001
The Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental Hotel San Francisco, CA

Friday, April 20, 2001
Special Keynote Address by Robert Monks
"Shareholder Activism: A Reality Check"

Summary

In the speech I will raise three issues:

1. The outrage that the government does not enforce trust laws and the absence of so many institutional investors from ownership concerns.

2. There are things that shareholders can do and should do. I will list some of them.

3. There are companies who are acting as responsible leaders and there are those who are not. I will name names.

Over the next two months, I will be putting on this page supplemental material about the speech.
