The
Robert Monks Professorship In 1996 the University received a donation from Mr Robert Monks to facilitate the development of teaching and research in Corporate Governance in the Judge Institute. This donation funded research posts, support for research students, curriculum development in the MBA and MPhil programmes and the creation of a cross-faculty corporate governance network, seminars and conferences. The focus of this work in the Judge Institute was lead by John Roberts on corporate leadership and accountability.
A
donation of 4 million US dollars has been received from Mr
Dennis Kozlowski and Tyco Corporation and in honour of the
donors’ wish has secured the establishment of the Robert
Monks Professor of Corporate Governance in perpetuity in the
Judge Institute. It is expected that the inaugural professor
will build on existing activities to develop teaching,
research and dissemination programmes that will tackle
issues of major importance for the 21st century.
These It is anticipated that the approach to the further development of the subject will be multi-disciplinary and will draw in contributions, beyond the Judge Institute, from economists, political scientists, lawyers and anthropologists. We anticipate that the successful candidate will be a distinguished expert in one of the following fields: business strategy, organisational behaviour, company law, business ethics, social psychology or applied economics, and will place value on a multi-disciplinary approach to the subject.
